Grade Five Tops Ramadan Food Drive

Serving the Alexandrian Community and Beyond

By Aya Kordy

This year, the Seniors and Juniors organized a two-week Ramadan Food Drive at Schutz American School. The food items collected amounted to 5,736 items, and they were given to two charity organizations: Roteract and Soad El Serafy. These two organizations will distribute the items to individuals who are considered living below the poverty line. The number of these individuals is estimated to be around 15 million.

Just as educating the students is one of Schutz American School’s major goals, community service has an equal share of importance. Every year, each class contributes by doing a community service project. The Ramadan Food Drive will this year serve the needs of poor Egyptian families within the Alexandrian community and beyond. The Ramdan Food Drive showed how the Schutz students really care for their community. The grade five students showed particular interest in winning the drive, which they did with a stunning total of 2,315 items.

As Schutz is a caring and giving family, helping other families is simply not out of the ordinary.
